You may have noticed this month I've been MIA on the blog. It's been a long month since our Easter entry. The month has revolved around Jay, who scheduled his surgery and had his torn ACL and miniscus finally operated on (they can't repair the torn MCL, which will heal on its own) two weeks ago (a post on the surgery is after this). In the midst of all this, he found out he has a genetic condition (although not sure who else in his family has it) that causes his liver to have fat in it. This condition, if he doesn't maintain a lean weight, could cause scerosis of the liver, diabteties and other complications as young as 50. Jay was put on a 1200 calorie diet and has lost (between this and POST) 30 lbs (and none of it involved taking pregnancy hormones)! He has eight more pounds and then just needs to keep it off for life. Watch out girls, he's totally hot:

The rollercoaster continues...Davis County opted to let Jay go a week before his surgery. Because he was a new hire probabtionary employee, they didn't need any real excuses. He hadn't completed training yet and wouldn't be able to go back for six months. We know it's obviously because he got hurt, but they couldn't say it. We talked to a few attorneys, but because of his status, the most he could fight for would be his job back, which would only make them mad and they would find something else to fire him for down the line. Totally unfair and we're mad, but moving on. He is getting workman's comp for the next few months until he is released by the doctor to look for another job.
We've had a lot of emotions going on in the house, but among all the hurt and anger is one of gratitude for the blessings we do have. We are blessed that I have a good job that will keep us financially stable while Jay recovers. We're blessed that we have been financially conservative and have a good reserve and no other debt. We are blessed that we have our health and that Jay was able to find out about his condition now so that we can avoid complications in the future - and that he has been so committed to losing the weight. I need some of that! We are blessed that we have each other and the Lord to rely on during this time of stress and uncertaintly. We are still looking for the answer to why this trial is ours right now, but have done a lot of soul searching and are feeling closer to the Lord who we know will help us in due time. We are so grateful to all of your well-wishes, service and prayers. We love you!
Below are several blog posts I've had in the hopper, but not posted until now. Enjoy and make comments! We love to hear from you!

Holy Cow! You have been busy! I am sorry to hear about the job...he can apply for other police jobs though - right? Jay you look great! I am glad they found out you had that before it was too late. Well, take care and good to hear what's been going on.
Sorry that all this is happening...especially about Jay's liver. Anytime you find out your body is not doing exactly what it's supposed to, it's so scary. I guess it gives us that little push to be as healthy as we can and take care of our bodies that Heavenly Father gave us. We've learned a lot having Kaylin in the family, can you tell? :) Can't wait to see you this weekend
Look at you Jay, you sexy stud you!

Fatty Liver can be serious so it's so great that you got an early start on prevention. Diet is the key. In fact there is a great book called, The Liver Diet by Dr Cabot. She is an Australian DR that has spent her medical career studying fatty liver syndrome. And there is a great diet and recipe section. That's incredible Jay has lost 30lbs!! Tell him I am sooo jealous. I've been eating 800 calories for 6 weeks and only managed 16lbs. :)
