Many of you already know that Jay will start a new job on Dec. 15. He will be joining the Davis County Sheriff/Paramedic office and be doing both paramedic calls in the county as well as patrol work as a county police officer. He will start in the office and doing paramedic rounds in December and then do the police academy (P.O.S.T.) for three months starting in January. He also hopes to continue to work part time at Gold Cross and will continue working a couple of shifts a week for Farmington Fire as well as be a stay-at-home dad as much as possible.Although it is not necessarily more money, it has other benefits. As soon as he is done with POST he will go back to 12-hour shifts so he will be able to be home more days out of the year than before. He is excited to participate in search and rescue as part of his responsibilities. It also has a nice pension plan. As for the gun, he already has a plan for where to store his gun (since I am adamantly opposed to guns in the home) that involves some sort of James Bond-esque bookcase with hidden safe in the office. We are blessed that he was offered this position that will have him on more of a career path while still allowing him to be a paramedic and be home with Lauren.

Wow, way to go Jay! I didn't know you were thinking of being a police officer - I think that's fabulous! You'll be a good one...very scary...he he he, just kidding!

That's cool about the 4-12's...Jordan's also switching to that schedule in January and is happy to have a bit more time..he'll need it with school and being a new DAD!
